The film begins with promise but quickly loses focus and falls apart on the go.
Firstly, it can't settle on a genre. It's not funny enough for a comedy, too shallow for sci-fi, and too dull for an adventure. In the end, it's neither a comedy, nor sci-fi, nor drama-just a strange mix with no clear direction.
Secondly, the characters' motivations are completely unexplored. I felt no empathy or connection-there was simply no one to root for. The actors, in my opinion, didn't deliver, though the weak script might be to blame.
Thirdly, the film is noticeably dragged out. The plot could have been wrapped up in an hour and a half, and it would've only benefited from that.
Overall impression: too boring, too long, and neither funny nor serious. Superficial in every way.
