Interesting concept on an old story that strayed out interesting and collapsed under the weight of its good intentions. And the road to hell is paved with good intentions and this film on repeat. Ice Cube tried hard but just couldn't deliver. Whoever thought he could deliver those lines needs to find a new job. Everyone else was equally lacking. The dialogue was downright awful at times. I get that this was a COVID protocols production but that is no excuse for this mess. An A for effort and A for awful.
Wow. Just wow. I am so glad I did not pay to see this in the theatres. I really enjoyed the first one. The second was okay. But this is shockingly bad except for the fight at the end. Wasn't anyone paying attention while they were shooting? Or have the read the script in advance? Considering all of the talent in this movie it should have been much better. SONY does not know how to many films like this. Please stop trying Amy Pascal. Leave these characters and movies to Marvel. Hopefully Marvel finds a way to bring Eddie Brock and Venom back for the Spider-Man movies but with a good script and a good director.
If this is a preview of things to come this season will be a tough sell for me. No one is thinking about their lines and just spouting them out. Agreed they are badly written but be a pro and make them work. Susan Duffy is the worst. Struggles with her New England accent and doesn't even think about what she is saying. When she is on the screen I cringe. Even Alan Ritchson is wooden without some good actors to work off of. He's just walking though this one. I was excited about this new season finally happening but that is gone. I will watch it just because it's Reacher and there's nothing else to watch.
First episode builds hope for something better than what it turned out to be. So many unanswered questions not unlike the case itself. Not sure what it was meant to be kit had a sense they thought it would go somewhere but the passing of its main"unreliable narrator" left it dead in the water. It didn't have to be that way either. So many paths it could have wandered down but inexplicably chose not to. Now we will never know. I'd this kind of stuff interests you there's enough to nibble on but not enough to have a full meal. Maybe it will inspire someone else to follow the trails left open to unravel more of the truth.
The first two seasons of this show were incredibly well-written, enthralling, and riveting. Season three has drifted away from that into a disjointed, cluttered mess of stories and characters. You have to wonder if the writers and/or showrunners changed between the long-delayed seasons two and three. Characters that I once cared about have devolved into whiny, dysfunctional people you wind up hoping some of them will be taken by the monsters. And, the one pure gleaming character that offset the pall they killed off early in season three (watch to find out who) for no good reason whatsoever. Characters added in season three do not bring anything positive to the mix and have thrown off the rhythm of this show. I will stick with it to see how they resolve this intriguing story but I am losing hope that it will be a positive resolution. The show is worth the time and effort but temper your expectations.
How did M. Night lose his talents and abilities? He keeps turning out mediocre content. It's amazing he keeps getting the production funds. I know that Hollywood keeps hoping for another hit from him but it's not coming. This is proof of that. Josh Hartnett was great. I believed him. Everyone else not so much. Plot holes galore and some really bad writing. Amazingly bad writing. You sit through this shaking your head. Nepotism didn't help it either with the casting of the director's daughter in such an important role. I am glad I didn't pay to see this abyssal attempt at a serial killer thriller. The only thing killed was my time.
After the success and the creative ingenuity of Orphan Black they tried to catch lightning in a bottle. All they got was a lightning bug with a glowing butt. Kristen Ritter is good at times and the show drags when she is not on the screen which is a lot. Other times her character is relegated to be a secondary focus when she should be the main focus. The supporting cast of characters is weak outside of Jules. I didn't care about the other characters which drags the show down. Without the acting progress of Tatiana Maslany to drive things this show has no life. The writing and direction seem amateurish at times. Just an all around disappointing waste of my time.
Wow. This film started out fun, clever and unique. Its stumbled and fell into a vat of excess and too many twists. I can see why so many people hated the ending. All of the good will built up in the first half of the movie is lost exponentially in the end. I get having fun but to betray your audience doing so is wrong. Clever writing descends into camp and ridiculousness with one twist too many. I feel like I wasted over two hours of my time instead of having enjoyed a fun film. And a good cast was wasted along the way. Although I believed Bryce Dallas Howard was more believable as the writer than the spy. Everyone else did their job. And that's the best I can say.
A silly fantasy story that was mediocre and a pleasant enough waste of time until the end. What the heck were they thinking with that ending? Who cut her hair in the cave? Was there a beauty shop in there. Hair and make up? A lot of make up for someone who has been fighting a dragon. Totally unacceptable for a production of this expense. Millie Bobbie Brown did a serviceable job but her acting reminded me of her efforts in Sherlock Holmes. Except there was no Henry Cavill to carry her. Predicable and trite. CGI was okay until the end and then it got bad. Did they run out of money? Netflix originals are originally bad these days.
Some good elements but bad writing and hokey acting messed things up. Bad direction didn't help either. What were they thinking? So many good aspects wasted with poorly executed production elements. The stereotyping of Hispanics was even offensive to me and ai am not Hispanic it was unnecessary and detracted from the potential of this film. I liked the lead, the Kord daughter and the father. Everyone is an intentional comedic caricature. Such bad writing at times you cringe. What was this director thinking? What was Warner Brothers thinking? It could have been so much better and it's on the creative team for messing up!
Instead of just focusing on the people and the event this became a politically driven story. Good documentaries have the topic and people as their focus not their hidden agenda. There are plenty of those and they are the ones who make a difference. This was a frustrating viewing experience. There were enough human interest stories to weave together but wasn't. Making me care about the people and their journey is what I would have wanted to see. If someone were to make that one and leave their political bent out of it maybe it would make a difference. For me, this one won't and I am truly disappointed.
Weak badly written script with bad editing. Sometimes things don't go as planned. Doggett says dead men don't tip the bellman when in fact he didn't tip the bellman. I get them making Scully be like Mulder and Doggett is Sculky now but the inconsistency in their characters feels like they are forcing it. All of the episodes before this one felt right and like Season 1 & 2 but this one doesn't belong anywhere. I've liked the season up until now. A episode like this would never get made today. And it shouldn't. Besides being offensive to Indians it's just bad. This was a major blip in things for me.
Weak is the word for this show. And it's the word for the paranormal team. They have no business doing what they're doing. Maybe that's part of the drama. Leaps of logic and conclusions without evidence and confirmation. Leading questions from people with their own issues. The family, especially the mother, are magnets and feed whatever is there. How these two got this show is beyond me. As someone who has helped people like this for over 30 years it's grieves me that people create more problems and bring no solutions. They have their own issues that muddy things. The blind leading the blind into a ditch.
The 6 rating is for production values and the actors. Otherwise it would be much lower. It starts out interesting enough and goes downhill from there. The flaws lie with the writing and direction. Story choices makes no sense and wind up alienating its audience. And it seems that's done by choice. Instead of rooting for the outcome you end up wishing that they had failed in their mission. At the end of things I wished I had not wasted my time. Asking aloud if that is all there is.
The actors do their best with what they were given. The casting choices were solid for the most part. The director got caught up in the visuals at the expense of the story at times. The action, when present, made up for those moments. Unfortunately there weren't enough of them.

Really enjoyed seeing this and the people involved. What keeps it from being complete for me is the total absence of Lace - Marisa Pare. How she's not there when from pilot to the first couple of seasons her popularity with the fans helped drive the show. You talk about her but act like she didn't exist. And as she was not an athletic veteran as many of the gladiators were but she still threw her body around that arena was compelling as well as concerning. Dan (Nitro) mentions his concern for her longevity but doesn't follow that up. It would have been nice to know what long term effects the show had on her as well Billy Smith (Thunder) would have shown even more how Ferraro and Samuel Goldwyn didn't care.
Was anyone paying attention? Unrealistic one dimensional characters. Unlikable me at times. Jennifer Garner who is usually a good actress was flat and held one dumb look on her face the entire series. That's bad direction. Did no one notice?! The writing was so bad at times I was screaming at the screen. The only voice of reason was the US Marshall and then they neutered him at the end. He said what needed to be said to the bungling Hannah and then Bailey disrespects him at the end. It got to the point that you don't care about the characters after they make one bad decision after another. Makes you wonder if the husband was the smart one to get out when he could.
The trailer and the cast attracted me. The quality of that cast kept me hoping for more. Bad heavy handed script and weak direction didn't help. Some bad casting in Emily Hampshire who is normally great in everything she does but couldn't pull this off. Lifeless and wooden. Maybe that was a choice if so if didn't work. The effects were underfunded and overreaching. It seems as if someone had an agenda they weren't going to let anyone or anything keep them from obtaining. Can't we just tell a story anymore without beating people over the head with it? I'd you need to binge something just to kill some time this will do it.
Bad script. Bad direction. Stiff acting from people who can do better. Woke nonsense from Hollywood. Who approved this and paid for it?! Up and coming director? Where? High school? Bad. Bad. Bad. On every level. And it didn't have to be. Had some potential. Missed potential. This was just a paycheck for all involved. No reasonable credit comes from this. What was Stephen Lang thinking? Bruce Dern I can understand. Older and needs the money. Shane West? What a wasted career. This just emphasizes that. Wasted time that cannot be retrieved. If you have nothing else to watch do it but don't expect much.
After all the hype and promotion I was expecting so much more than this mess. If this was the Rock's passion project I would hate to see what it would have been if it wasn't. The script was weak and the characters one dimensional. The secondary characters were cartoonish. Whoever wrote this had no clue how to write a superhero film. All they had to do was watch some Marvel movies. The casting left a lot to be desired. Outside of Dwayne Johnson it looked like everyone was phoning their performances in. The editing and effects were not on par with the type of film this desired to be. And the director had no clue what he was doing most of the time. Another bad choice in my opinion.
From the beginning it was off to a bad start with the voice over background story that could have been told later, and was, in brief shots. The first ten minutes were unnecessary. Cut another 20 minutes and this film would have flowed better. And then there is the Henry Cahill Superman cameo at the end to remind us of that mess. And to think that's the last time we will see Cavill's Superman. I can see why this film didn't make money. No one wanted to see it twice. Even for free I know I don't.

Good beginning establishing the characters and a glimpse of where the story was headed. Good ending tying things up and brining their point to bear. Mess of a middle that needed serious tightening up and editing. Was all over the place caught up in visuals that while interesting did not further the story. Way too long. Could have cut 45 minutes and not effected the story. Michelle Yeoh did an amazing job as she always does. Jamie Lee Curtis did a great job in her offbeat role. That being said, outside of Michelle Yeoh the characters were underdeveloped. I wanted to like this film. I had been looking forward to seeing it. And I did. Once will be enough.
Went woke in the last 30 minutes with a surprising unnecessary twist. A ridiculous twist that feeds the woke Hollywood machine. Do they not realize America is tired of it? Wasted efforts by all involved. And the efforts of the cast and director was undone by the writers. It was fun and entertaining until then. The chemistry between Cavill and Brown is worth the time for the first 90 minutes. They are amazing together and the screen lights up. More of them together is worth it. Henry Cavill brings a new texture to Sherlock Holmes. Millie Bobby Brown is incredible and sparkles. But a female .... and a ...Watch and see for yourself.
The people in charge of this mess need to never work again. The decreasing level of quality of writing, direction, and acting over the seasons was stupefying to watch. Frustratingly shouting at the screen difficult. At times I wondered if this was meant for a much younger audience. Like children to be honest. Sad too because it started out with such promise. I finished it just to complete the journey. A journey I will never take again. If that was the intention you succeeded. If it wasn't you failed miserably. You got a 6 for production value. No need to ding the below the line talent for the above the line failures.
Please Marvel no more Taika Waititi! This is a mess and his Thor is a mockery of the character. Was no one watching what he was doing? This story is all over the place. A literal farce. The characters are cartoonish. The acting is over the top. If I had paid to see this I would have been angry. Even seeing it for free in my own home feels wrong. The actors do their best with the nonsense they are asked say and do. These are good talented people who cannot overcome this silliness. And the woke MCU message gets old. Make some changes Marvel or go the way of DC. Sooner or later your audience will tire of this.
