It's after the rapture, and nobody talks because they wanted to rip off A Quiet Place, I mean they couldn't afford a screenwriter who could handle dialogue, I mean it says in on screen text at the beginning that talking is a sin. Sure, that must make some kind of sense to someone. The maim character spends the movie running from zombies (remember the part about zombies in the rapture stories from church?) and trying to escape people who kidnap other people and tie them down and make monkey noises to attract the zombies who are sort of of vampire zombies, I guess.
Yeah, this movie is a ridiculous mess. None of it makes any sense, and it's torture to watch, since it's just one absurd, badly written twist (and that's being generous) after another.

Lauded as a great work of atmospheric art, this film definitely takes some interesting approaches. The beautifully designed shots of Venice and the pervading sense of creepiness made it worth a watch at times. Unfortunately, it doesn't quite all hold together. A great example of the artistic but pointless design of the film is the steamy sex scene, which was intercut with a scene of the couple getting dressed and ready to go to dinner. Why? Because art, or something. The two scenes had no meaningful connection, and either (or the baffling combination of the two) could have been cut from the film without changing anything. And the superfluous abounds in the film. The ending is a both a complete surprise because it has no meaningful place in the film's story, and an anti-climax becsuse the foreshadowing was so absurdly hamfisted. If you enjoy the "experimentation" of late 60s-early 70s film and don't mind when it adds up to empty storytelling, you may enjoy this movie. If you want a good story, look elsewhere.
From the beginning, this film felt cheap and amateurish. I lasted about 20 minutes before the cast, a group gleaned from the youngest looking attendees of a frat party, made up to look "grungy" got on my nerves too much to keep going. I get it that certain films want to feel young and hot, but none of the main cast looked more than 16. This wasn't for fans of the franchise, who likely wouldn't be interested in a cheap teen drama, and the story wasn't interesting enough to make it stand out as a movie on its own.
I'll admit I didn't give it a full chance, so maybe I missed the good stuff, but the production didn't help. The digital work (it was mostly digital fakes) appeared low budget, and was ultimately uninteresting. Prometheus was the last Alien film I enjoyed, and this one seems to have continued the trend of diminishing artistic value. It felt very much like a fan film made by college students.
