I heard someone compare this movie to Uncut Gems, which I hated, and I can see it. I will say that I hated this one less. It has that same frenetic energy, and at some parts gets almost slapstick-y. I did think the last 30 minutes of the movie were the best part, once it calms down a bit. I like the way it ended. But it's really hard to listen to Ani's shtick for two hours. I just have a hard time seeing this one as a Best Picture winner (although granted in a weak year). It's memorable, I'll give it that. Just not particularly enjoyable to watch. And I wouldn't pick this one to watch on a plane unless you have no qualms about your seatmates wondering why you are watching so much nudity.

If you're going in just looking for some mindless fun and tension for 2 hours, you're going to get it. Is it a great movie? Not really. There are plenty of plot things you can question, and it feels like they're trying too hard to shoehorn Christmas into it to make it a "Christmas movie". But it's fun seeing Jason Bateman in a villain role, and Egerton is fine. The best parts are the quieter moments between just those two characters. When it expands out to LAPD and others, it's not as good. You'll probably look around at the other travelers a lot more the next time you fly after seeing this movie.

I didn't know this was going to be a hockey movie (kidding). I don't remember a ton about the first one, but I remember liking it a lot. This one is very good as well. It suffers a little bit from too many characters, as I found anxiety to be a bit much. But I feel like this one has more scenes in the "real world" with Riley, which I liked. It captures really well what it's like to be a teenager going through puberty and changing schools. There are some good laughs here, especially in the scenes with the video game crush. There are a couple changes in the main cast, but you don't really notice a drop-off.
