Hopefully the public is educated enough to know that any extreme weight loss regime as these contestants underwent was solely for the show creators cash-in at the detriment of each contestant's health and well being. As a person who worked in the fitness and health/rehab industry for over a decade and a half it is utterly shameful that these fitness trainers only cared about branding themselves and chasing in while fully knowing that the weight loss regiment "prescribed" by these trainers was actually damaging to the health of these contestants. Jillian Michaels and Bob Harper and even the doctor who tried to come across a little more "concerned" are all complacent in violating the ethical standards of their profession because they fully KNOW that any changes you make to your lifestyle in order to reduce weight and/or improve fitness must be sustainable. None of these contestants could ever sustain that degree of caloric restriction and the amount of exercise long term, so naturally all that sensational celebration was in jest and the fact that the shows rating had people watching this when it was airing only helped fuel the corruption. The derogatory approach to the contestants and the gamification of their well-being was a modern version of the Roman circus. It's that shameful part of the viewer's brain when someone knows something they're watching is bad but they still do it. Forget about what is morally healthy or unhealthy - if it sells - so be it. As long as the public continues to accept this premise, nothing will change. I never watched this show when it was airing, I had no interest at the time and I was sick of all the reality shows in that era because they were all exploitive, harmful entertainment.
I really loved the first season of Severance and couldn't wait for the second season to begin. I enjoyed the actual slow pace and the brilliance of the acting, characters and the soundtrack. It all fit in really well. The topic of this show was unique and intriguing and I was really keen on seeing what things would unfold in season 2. It was arduous trying to stick with the last seven episodes thinking maybe it would make sense or get better but that just hasn't happened and can't possibly happen with over half the season over. I have never experienced a series like this that could go from so good to so bad. I'd be no more bored staring at a wall for 50 minutes than the boredom I experienced watching the last 7 episodes of season 2. It truly got worse with each subsequent episode. I can't believe I paid months of apple subscription to see how much boredom I could tolerate. Will not continue.
