Changes include minor bug fixes, Sonic and Knuckles' lock-on technology being added to the three earlier titles, being able play as Knuckles in Sonic 1, being able to play as Tails in Sonic and Knuckles, two new difficulties/stage layouts, the ability to spin dash (introduced in Sonic 2) in the first Sonic the Hedgehog, play Special Stages separately, a "Time Attack" mode, a "Time Out" option to disable the in-game time limits, and an optional mission list. There is also an interactive museum where you can view concept art, manuals, character portfolios, music, and original Japanese advertisements.

Sonic must come to the aid of Princess Elise, who possesses a dark power coveted by Dr. Eggman.

In Sonic Free Riders, full-motion body control allows you to twist and turn your way through a range of courses in an action-packed Sonic experience.

An unknown enemy causes the appearance of multiple "time holes", forcing Sonic and his friends back in time. As a result, Sonic must band together with his past self to defeat this enemy and fix the timestream.
