Police officer Franz Eberhofer is woken up by his colleagues because his boss Barschl has been killed. The murder weapon is Franz' knife, so he is suspected to be the murderer of his hated boss.

Franz Eberhofer feels comfortable as a cop in the small Bavarian village of Niederkaltenkirchen. His transfer to Munich is inconvenient for him. But soon a murder case brings him back to his tiny village.

"Feelings always suck." Lower-Bavarian village police officer Franz Eberhofer internalized this deeply-felt wisdom long ago. That is why he suffers only moderately when his girlfriend Susi distances herself. Even in the event of the neighboring Mooshammerhof burns down, Eberhofer does not break out into unrest. Even the fact that an attractive woman from Munich was killed in the fire does not irritate Franz. Provincial police officer Eberhofer has to save the gambling addict Lotto Otto from collecting money and clarify the murder of his mother.

After what feels like 2000 cakes and even more roast pork, bread dumplings and cabbage, Grandma decides to stop caring for the family. Pure chaos. Papa Eberhofer, Franz, Leopold and Susi should finally learn to look after themselves. Now, of all times, Susi temporarily takes over Niederkaltenkirchen's town hall as deputy mayor and uses her newfound power to reduce Franz's position to half-time so that he can look after his son Pauli in the future. This action touches Eberhofer's masculinity. Fortunately, it doesn't take long before a crow picks up a human ear and a missing person case that was actually stuck unexpectedly develops into a complicated murder case that brings Franz and Rudi together again as a dream team of investigators in top form.
