- TriviaHis last film project was an animated version of Voltaire's Candide, to be co-produced with a French studio. He died during preproduction. The project was later picked up by Hungarian animators in the 2010s who, following Kovásznai's original production notes but disregarding his proposed character designs, released the short film The Adventures of Candide (2014), which was then expanded into the controversial short adult animated series Candide (2018).
- Marca comercialHighly unusual animation, often created by mixing various mediums and materials (cel animation, stop-motion, paper cutouts, filtered live-action footage, etc.) and non-traditional character designs whose designs vary shot-by-shot. Thematically, he commonly dealt with social commentary about his contemporary life.
