Worked as a cab driver for three years and a gravedigger before becoming an actor.

He has appeared in three films that have been selected for the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically or aesthetically" significant: Picardías estudiantiles (1982), Un detective suelto en Hollywood (1984) and Idaho: El camino de mis sueños (1991).
