He was a country singer song writer. He wrote such country hits as "Act Naturally", for Buck Owens; "Hurt Her Once For Me", for The Wilburn Brothers; "Got No Reason Now For Going Home", for Gene Watson and "Let's Fall To Pieces Together" for George Strait. He also had many hits as a singer, including "Red Necks", "White Socks" and "Blue Ribbon Beer". Catfish John, The Babtisim Of Jessie Taylor, and Making Plans. Making Plans was also a hit for many other country artists.
