I'm a natural blonde. But when I started acting, I would go to auditions and they didn't know where to put me because I was voluptuous and had the accent--but I had blonde hair. It was ignorance: they thought every Latin person looks like Salma Hayek.

Los Angeles is crazy. The women all look the same now. That thing with the cheeks. Like Madonna. Who do they think they're fooling? It doesn't make them look young. You end up looking like a freak.

People shouldn't stay married because of the kids. That's torture for everyone.

You have to surround yourself with people who help and support you. It is impossible to do everything--and do it right-- if you are doing it by yourself.

My marriage broke up because my husband was younger, he wanted to have children and I didn't want to be an old mother. I feel like it's not fair for the baby. That's not for me anymore. I already had a child at 19, and I'm ready to be a grandmother, not a mother.

I think I'm going to be stereotyped forever, but I'm not scared of being stereotyped. I'm Latin. I have this accent. I'm lucky that I got this role and showed people that I can be funny.

[on Ed O'Neill] 'Married with Children' was one of the most known and loved comedies in the United States, and people adore Ed. So we would have it in Colombia, translations... But they were usually translated by Spanish-speaking people. So to me, in my head, he sounded like Antonio Banderas. So when I met him the first time ... 'Modern Family' was really my first big job, I was a little disappointed because he couldn't even say one word in Spanish; he sounded like nothing.

[on her acting work] I'm always looking for characters because there's not much that I can play with this stupid accent. I can't play a scientist or be in 'Schindler's List.' My acting jobs are kind of limited.
