Brother-in-law of director Phil Joanou, who directed Frank's teleplay 'Dead End for Delia' installment of Showtime's television noir anthology, Fallen Angels (1993). Frank also wrote the screenplay for Joanou's 1996 feature, Heaven's Prisoners (1996).

Alumnus of University of California-Santa Barbara; Film Studies Dept.

Has directed two Emmy Award-winning performances: Merritt Wever and Jeff Daniels in Godless (2017).

His favorite movie of all time is Dog Day Afternoon (1975), and it's also the movie he credits for making him want to be a screenwriter.

Nominated for the 2018 Emmy Award in the Outstanding Directing For A Limited Series, Movie Or Dramatic Special category for Godless (2017), but lost to Ryan Murphy for The Man Who Would Be Vogue (2018).
