Paméla Diop is a French-Senegalese film producer bringing expertise in her image: disruptive, breaking codes, and proposing a new African narrative in entertainment worldwide. Through her films and various mentoring and philanthropic projects, and as one of the
first producers of genre movies in West Africa, Paméla Diop actively participates in building modern African cinema.
She was introduced to the world of entertainment and media at a very early age growing up in a family of documentary filmmakers, journalists, and advertising executives. For several years while at McCann Worldgroup in Senegal, she worked in public relations, events, and communications where she produced more than a hundred advertising campaigns throughout France, the Ivory Coast, and Gabon. As Production Director, she managed and coordinated numerous audiovisual projects from film sets in Central and West Africa, as well.
Mastering all aspects of production yet eager to tell her own stories, in 2020 Paméla Diop produced her first feature film SALOUM, an independently-financed thriller shot in Senegal. In 2021, SALOUM was selected by international critics to world premiere at the prestigious Toronto Film Festival (TIFF) among some 40 other international festivals to which the film was invited. By 2022, the film was theatrically distributed in the USA by IFC Films / Shudder, by Pathé BC Afrique in more than 17 French- speaking African countries, in France by CGR Events, and sold to Amazon Prime Video for all sub-Saharan Africa.
Convinced of the strategic role of women in the film industry, Paméla Diop defends an egalitarian sector and a fairer representation of all talents. To provide a concrete response to this major challenge, she founded "African Woman Action" in 2021, an association to initiate and accelerate women's roles in the film industry. She also created AWA Productions, a feature film production company supporting films written and directed solely by women.
Currently, Paméla Diop has an American-Senegalese action film in post-production and is also developing two feature film projects through Biopics Films, a company she co-created in 2022 dedicated to producing untold and inspiring films about African sports legends and legendary sports stories.
