Maurice began his acting journey playing roles in church plays. Born and raised in Jamaica, the 41 year old Jamaican writer fell in love with the performing arts and thought this is where his true passion lied. However, he could not see the benefits of becoming an actor because in Jamaica acting wasn't a profitable profession unlike the United States. However it did not deter him. Over the years, he appeared in church plays, school productions, even radio commercials. As he got older, Maurice's passion grew and it was then he found his new talent, writing. He started experimenting and in the latter part of 2002, he took it seriously and eventually fell in love with writing and thought that creating stories was way more exciting than acting.
His new found love however came with disappointments as he tried applying for every major advertising agency he could apply to. None replied because of his lack of experience and he had no credit or portfolio to his name. So, he began creating his own portfolio and writing stuff for himself. Eventually, he garnered the attention of an advertising agency called M Squared Studios. Maurice thought that his dreams had finally come through, though it was short-lived because after three months, he was let go. Another opportunity presented itself when he was brought on at another Advertising agency as creative writer, where he was excelling and holding his own, churning out radio, print and Tv ads. Though he did not get the respect needed from his peers and was told he wasn't a good writer, he never stopped writing. After six months, Maurice was let go.
While working at those agencies however, Maurice had been on projects outside of his work time with people in the industry such as Kevin Jackson, Robin Chin and a host of others. With all his determined efforts and failed attempts to be taken seriously, Maurice finally garnered the attention of an actress who found his talents invigorating and thought provoking. Jacinth Headlam, Jamaican born now US actress, saw in Maurice the potential to be an awesome writer. Maurice is working with Jacinth as her main writer for upcoming projects.
September 2023, Maurice's first novel " Return of the Owl", hit the digital shelves of Amazon and has over 9 positive reviews.
In 2025, Maurice's writing portfolio had expanded as his efforts and hard work have now been recognized. His latest work, "Love After Holidays", was this year attached to February's Reggae Month and premiered at the well known Carib 5 movie theater in Kingston Jamaica. To top it off, Love After Holidays will this year in December prepare on BET and BET+
