As a child she starred in numerous television commercials. She was in three McDonald's commercials because the casting directors for last two were unaware of the previous ones.

She is a proud ambassador for UNAIDS. In honor of her late grandfather, who passed away from AIDS, Jenna has worked closely with UNAIDS to help raise awareness. She was quoted in 2017 saying "I want to help eliminate the stigma of AIDS and get people talking about it. Make it normal, bring it up. It's a disease that affects all of us.".

Revealed in a Teen Vogue interview that she would perform autopsies on little animals when she was younger, more specifically the dead lizards she would find in her backyard (she would not actually kill the animals, only using ones she found dead.).

She is of Mexican and Puerto Rican descent.

Was a vegan for a very long time, up until she started filming for Merlina (2022) in Romania. She is now a pescatarian.

She was violently hungover when filming her iconic scream in the movie "X" (2022) after going on a bar crawl the night before with cast mate Kid Cudi while in New Zealand.

In spite of their common surname, Jenna Ortega is not related to director and choreographer Kenny Ortega.
