Michelle Renee Jackson grew up in Murrieta, CA. She is the youngest of three daughters. Her father is a 20 year Navy veteran and her mother is a social worker. She graduated from Harvard Divinity School and UCLA where she studied the intersections of race, sexuality, religion, and gender. She also attended Princeton Theological Seminary.
