Abia Castillo

Abia Castillo (Mexico City, 1983) Screenwriter and fiction writer. She is a graduate of the Screenwriting Course of Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC) and SOGEM School of Writers in Mexico City. She has received scholarships and awards from the Mexican Film Institute (IMCINE), the Ibermedia Program and the Bolivian Ministry of Culture, among other institutions. Together with director Michelle Garza Cervera, she wrote the feature film Huesera, produced by Machete Producciones, Disruptiva Films, Señor Z and Maligno Gorehouse. Huesera had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival 2022 and won two awards: the Best New Narrative Director and the Nora Ephron Award. Her first novel, My Lips Will Not Be Closed, was published in 2021 by Penguin Random House under the Grijalbo imprint.
