Qui sème l'amour...

A fram in the French countryside near Lyon: while her daughter Julie was on travel, Huguette, a children's book author fires the handman of the farm.Julie can not manage alone this farm : she is looking for somebody and the unique candidate is Djibril, a medical technician who ran from Mali war-zone to study medicine in France.Also Djibril doesn't have any experience in agricultural labors.But Julie decides to contract him as farmhand and she proposes him to be her fake fiance.Then begins the story of July and Djibril, when they go to the village, the people in the café begin to make jokes and also betting about Julie and Djibril. The performances of of David Baiot (Djibril),Julie de Bona (Julie) and Evelyne Buyle (Huguette) are excellents, also the characters in the village are very funny. Finally Qui sème l'amour is a good tale about friendship,understanding and love !!

I really loved this TV film. In terms of plot, Qui Seme l'Amour is your basic romantic comedy and yet it has a warmth that is lacking in many others these days. Also, the setting, a farm/countryside, makes it different. The characters differ from usual romantic comedy job-pool: Julie, the farm manager; Djibril the medical technician who ran from Mali's war-zone and not too unhappy with work as a farmhand; Huguette, the children's books' author, all the half-crazed village people, are bringing a new freshness to the genre's handling. As for the cast, David Baiot is like a young (and black) Jean-Paul Belmondo as he is extremely charming and has a great relationship with the camera. Evelyne Buyle is formidable and Julie de Bona does a very good job. The characters in the village café and their endless and cute betting games are great additions to the story and cause smiles and create more depth to the film's development. I'd look out in the future for all in the cast, especially Mr Baiot.

I really enjoyed watching this movie. It was a good rom-com that got you invested in the characters and rooting for their relationship to work out. And it's pretty light in tone, so it's easily comparable to the English-language rom-coms I'm used to watching.
