I'm not a big fan of Preacher. In fact I think it's really bad. Perhaps it's because I'm unfamiliar with the comic book. But I always feel that a film or TV series based on a book or comic nonetheless has to stand on its own. Hence, not being familiar with the comic doesn't preclude me from judging the film/TV series.
Without going into my reasons for disliking the series, I have to admit that watching the "Talking
" supplement is informative. They give explanations for what wasn't adequately explained in the series itself, and since so much isn't in the exposition, or is so vaguely referenced it's nearly impossible to discern, these disconnected bits of information do help me understand what they were trying to do. Curiously enough it underscores my original belief in how poor the series is.
The "Talking
" supplement is informative, but not entertaining. It's a bit too adolescent for my tastes, and anyone who enjoys Charlie Rose or James Lipton will find their approach wanting.
If you're a fan of the series, you probably will want to view these segments. If you're not, save yourself the pain.
