In order to better portray the story, the director, Shaan Couture, learned American sign language to cast and work with a Deaf actor, Christopher DeSouza. Yamée Couture, the hearing lead actress, also learned sign language, and all crew members learned 15 basic signs to be able to communicate with the Deaf actors and producers on set.
