I tried to enjoy this, I honest to god tried.
Being a fan of the US and UK versions of WLIIA, I tried to get into the Australian concept, but there just are any good improvisation comedians on television. They chose a poor selection of television comedians who are not good at improv. Tommy Little is not a natural host either. Too stiff and "me, me, me".
What made the US and UK versions so good was that they used incredible improv actors and didn't worry if they were known or unknowns on television. They knew that if they were good enough people would watch and become household names because of their ability. Here we have the best household names they could find to make the show popular at the expense of the comedy.
It's no surprise this didn't rate and got canned quickly.

This feels like a home movie, one your neighbours forced you to watch at a casual BBQ amongst strangers.
Look, I get what you're trying to do. But wow, where are the producers!? How is it a gag like the bartender set gets on television? Why?!
Why do this?! It's a simpleton set generally used as a training construct for new improvisers.
Yet here we are watching expert players fail to use the construct to do anything craft a story with some context, some sense of place, some clarity of character.....SOMETHING.
Yet, they consistently choose....nothing.
Not entertaining.
Not good improvisation.
Terrible television.

Liked the US "Drew Cary" version which could be quite funny, this rather sad reinterpretation just didn't work and seems to have disappeared with no sign of a second season, this had the same sort of feel as "The Slide Show" another failed comedy? show that didn't really work. Saw several eps of Who's line is it and found nothing at all funny, even the usually very good Cal Wilson was wasted in this rubbish.
Thought it was very funny, very similar to the US and UK versions (also a huge fan) but the relatable Australian references really added a lot to the enjoyment. Would love to see the show continue but would also love for it to embrace some longer form improv games. Games like "Props" and "Scenes From A Hat" are usually only good for a quick laugh and often become (or begin) very pun heavy and quickly become boring for people watching more than 1 or 2 episodes in a row.
I hope if they do a second season they take a page or 2 out of Improv-A-Ganza's book and do some slightly longer improv games or allow some of the ones they're doing to last longer, since it's the amazing moments from those games that people leave the show remembering, not the puns about how a pair of semi-spheres with points at the top look like boobs.
