This Weekend Will Change Your Life

My copy of the dvd showed on its cover a picture of the nightly silhouet of a man with an ax in front of some camping tents. Together with the synopsis this naturally made me think that I was in store for a sinister horror flick. It turned out however as something totally different.

I guess the makers aimed at an intense psychological thriller. But the result looked more like some reality- documentary. Most of the time nothing remotely interesting or eventful happens: we just see seven people sitting in a circle, all the time either humming and meditating, or talking, bickering and looking awkward. That makes for a very long and rather tedious one and a half hour. What doesn't help, is that no-one of the group is in any way special or charismatic or makes you care much. There are some background stories that in the course of the movie surface, but they never go very deep or help to make the characters more sympathetic.

The weird group-leader is by far the most interesting character, but his nagging and aggressive behavior is never explained, and actually quite unrealistic: how on earth can a therapist keep up his practice when he constantly aggravates and humiliates his clientele?

In the last 10 minutes the movie takes a complete turn. It's action at last, but it comes totally out-of the blue and although there is a motivation for it, it seemed to me very much out-of character for the person in question.

All in all, well acted but for the most part too uneventful and tedious to make for an entertaining or involving movie.

Ok so here we are, me, myself and the movie, my friends and my wife. We are all about to see this movie, and we have a lot of candy on the table, oh yes no movie without candy, homemade pizza, Coke Zero. We actually love Coke Zero, almost addicted, my wife only want to drink it from a bottle. Must tell you this also, homemade Cinnabons is common at our place, hell yeah, lets rock this tv with a movie night. Oh I almost forgot, we hade Thaifood before the movie also, Thaifood is something special, we lov Thaifood, one of us wants it really hot, myself I'm weak, I want it no spicy at all, but its still so freaken nice. The movie? Well one star because it was played in color, and one star because it was sound on it, the rest was bad. The company was great and after the movie we had really fun.

The plot is thinner than paper. I was so bored i fell asleep over and over again.

Honestly, how can this even be called a movie? Just because you film some lame, boring people hitting on drums, it doesn´t automatically become a movie. It´s embarrassingly clear that the 3 people who rated this movie a 10 must be involved in its making somehow, and they should be equally ashamed as everyone else who didn´t say: "Stop! This movie sucks! Let´s start over!" Not only was it incredibly boring, but it was also just plane bad and totally lacking a story! Thriller? Please! Both the genre and the trailer are nothing but false marketing, and I wasted both a giftcard and a couple of hours of my life renting the piece of sh-t.

Good movie and I can't understand one star reviews. Very well acted and directed. Very interestive and not boring att all to me. Movie is however more drama than thriller and suspense but for some reason films other name is "Killer Retreat". Perhaps one or two star-reviewers waited thriller or horror movie as I also did at the beginning of the movie..
