They finally did a documentary that wasn't dragged out four times longer than it needed to. I hope there are more like this to come.
Would've rated it closer to an 8 but the scoring system is terribly bad on here. Let's go IMDb. Change it to out of 100 or get some decimal points in there. Shake it up.

Possibly the best short film I have seen in years. Exciting, suspenseful, quick paced, full of stars, villains, energy. Everything you would want from a thriller. I think everyone who has any interest in justice, criminal or otherwise would be satisfied by this 40 minute thrill ride.

On the front of the law library building near to where I live there is the famous quote, written in both French and English - It says "Leave no stone unturned". The French is "Remuer ciel et terre", literally, "shake up the sky and the earth". What happens in this documentary is closer to the sky than the earth. It is perhaps the alignment of stars, something inexplicable intertwined with something very human. If you're reading this you probably already know it's a documentary about a man who was accused of a murder. I won't say anything further because it really is quite the story, of people and actions that came together, intentionally and unintentionally.
See, this is how true crime documentaries are made, Netflix. I knew you had it in you to get one right eventually. Just the right length, the story told via original footage, using text exposition where necessary to move the story along, interviews to the point, and none of the rambling on or long drawn out pauses for dramatic effect. 8/10
This is definitely an interesting story, I think it could the storytelling could have been a bit better. I didn't feel as engaged in the story as I hoped.

- TriviaThe title of this documentary, "Long Shot," has a double meaning. Crowd footage at a baseball game is likely to be filmed from a distance - the definition of a "long shot" in camerawork parlance. And there was only a very small chance that Catalan's lawyers would be able to find any footage exonerating him - so their defense strategy was figuratively a "long shot."

Larry David: Maybe, I don't know, every few years, somebody will bring it up or something and I'll tell the story. Maybe I'll tell it at a party, how I got a guy off of a murder. You know. Um. Impress a date with it, I don't know.
