This is one of those horror films that strongly discourages camping in the wild. Or at the very least, if you're planning to camp deep in the forest, make sure you have a gun with you-not just yell that you have one. Then again, I'm not sure a gun would help here, as the mysterious, dark entity stalking the main characters-a young couple spending the night in a tent-might not even be human. We can't say for sure.
The acting is pretty decent for this type of horror short. The story is straightforward and predictable-maybe even too predictable, as we've seen plenty of variations of this premise before. That said, Tormentor is a neat little piece of work, and given its short runtime, we don't have to sit through 20 minutes of talking and aimless wandering at the campsite. This short film jumps straight into the action.
