- Toby Tyler: Do you swap back the ones that are bad?
- Harry Tupper: Bad? I don't vend bad peanuts, boy. Maybe a little underbred, timeworn perhaps, but not really bad.
- Toby Tyler: [tastes a peanut] Tastes bad.
- Toby Tyler: I got my own horse back home.
- Mademoiselle Jeanette: Toby, really?

- Mademoiselle Jeanette: [giggles] Toby, you're joking.
- Uncle Daniel: [in a very harsh voice to Toby Tyler] Now Go Up To Your Bed And Stay There! There will be no room for you at the dinner table tonight!
- [Uncle Daniel grabs Toby's ticket rips it up and throws it on the floor]
- Aunt Olive: [trying to soothe her husband] Now Daniel
- [Daniel faces his wife]
- Aunt Olive: please don't be so hard on Toby boys just get skittish when the circus comes to town.
- Aunt Olive: [after Toby Tyler is upstairs Olive outraged and angered with what her husband just said and did responds in a cold voice] Those Where Some Very Harsh Words Daniel! Very Harsh!
- Uncle Daniel: [responding to his wife's statement after she told him off] JUST GET DINNER ON THE TABLE OLIVE!
- Uncle Daniel: [turning back to Toby Tyler] Me and my wife can go without things just to feed you and clothe you. I am a poor man yet I took you in out of decency sake when no one wanted you!
- [Aunt Olive becomes angered with what her husband is saying]
- Uncle Daniel: I'm a poor man, yet I took you in out of decency's sake when no one else would have you!
