Mademoiselle Béatrice

A law student passed his exam in his first B.A. year in Paris ;he is in love with a girl who is not from the bourgeoisie and the boy is afraid his father might not approve of their union;we learn that the dad wants his offspring to marry into money (ther's a long conversation about the future bride's (we never see) dowry;so we expect a romance a la 'love story" but it is not ;light-hearted gallantries best describe the movie.

The boy brings his sweetheart to his home town where she becomes his dad's secretary and soon indispensable to him.But ,and the title is no misnomer, the principal becomes Mademoiselle Béatrice (superbly portrayed by Gaby Morlay),a spinster who is through with love after stories which went wrong .The young man will use this aunt who raised him (his father is a widower)to his advantage .The comedy sometimes verges on drama ,but thanks to Morlay's great skills ,never falls into tear jerker
