Excellent condemnation of the dross of traditional Chinese culture, namely, those in Confucianism that discriminate women: women were supposed to be the properties of their husbands, and when they are out on their own to earn a living,rumor flies and the protagonist is accused of adultery, even though she did not do it and she was working to support her husband.
