Something Special
there is something very special about this cartoon indeed. that is no true shaman history at all....and I guess that is not about shamans basically. So! For those who considers he(she) can find it useful in study of a shamanism - not the right place. But for those who wanna see a very kind anime - you are on board. I have heard that kids really do accept everything from the cartoon as the pure and undeniable truth about the world of shamans.....but shamans predominantly do not get together in groups and they do not make competitions......anyway - as I said the most important thing in this cartoon is a friendship, love and backing up theme. Destiny and fight against evil at all costs - these are the basic aspects of this wonderful anime - surprising is the fact that this is anime that could be rated for kids of any age.
Thought it was okay at first but then got better
This show is pretty interesting but I have seen a few episodes and they were cool. But I didn't like Yu-Gi-Oh but at least the creators of it came up with something a little better but still no contest. I think Yoh is really cool! I like his style and his cool relaxed attitude! This show sort of reminds me of Medabots almost except this is ghosts instead of robots. But on the other side the spirits and the action on the show is pretty cool and all. But my other most favorite shows for the Fox Box is probably Sonic X along with Kirby: Right Back At Ya! and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Shaman King follows the adventures of a 13-year-old shaman and his teammate a samurai warrior spirit, who traverse the world fighting evil spirits and misguided shamans on their journey to be the next Shaman King. I now think the show is pretty good I just needed to see more of the show in order to get the idea of it.

Awesome, but strange
I just got Shaman King: A Boy Who Dances With Ghosts on DVD from my best friend as a Chistmas gift today, and it's pretty different from the TV series. It doesn't have any of the same quotes as posted on this website, and they don't use Americanisms either. It's simple, plain English. The sword is called Harusame instead of the Sword of Light. On the box it says English Dub is available as well, but I cannot find it. It still gets the same message across, but it's...different. Could somebody help me out? I would appreciate it a lot.
Anyways, it was AWESOME!! I'm watching it as we speak. I haven't seen any blood yet, except in a brief scene in Episode 3: Tao Len. And Lenny's Rapide Tempo Assault is called "Slash Dance." I recommend it for any hardcore Shaman King fan!

English version massacred it
I hope no one here is judging it by the English version... they completely changed it, removing all Japanese references, changing the character's names, and making it for little kids. Certain character's names stayed to same, such as Yoh Asakura, Amidamaru, and Anna, but many of them changed. Manta Oyamada became Morty Manta. Ryu became Rio. Lien Tao, who is Chinese, became Lenny... who is British. Horohoro became Trey. An entire storyline got cut from the English version... a storyline that explains how Yoh gets his sword. In the English version he just kind of has it suddenly, and Rio suddenly has a spirit ally. All Japanese writing, even on signs in the distant background, were either changed to English or whited out. Thankfully, 4Kids has released an uncut version on DVD, though they kept the English names.
COOL
Yoh is a Shaman, he moves to Tokyo, because of the unusually high number of Ghosts. while hanging out in the Cemetary one night he meets fellow 7th grader Morty, Morty is special because, as with Yoh he can see ghosts, but unlike Yoh, Morty fears them. Yoh is looking for a spirit partner and finds one in the 600 year old Samurai spirit Amidamaru. By fusing with Amidamaru, Yoh Uses his powers to fight evil spirits and evil Shaman's all the while training for the chance to be crowned "Shaman King"
