    great, light hearted movie. funny

Great movie for a light hearted time at the movies. The reviewer who saw "microphones" above the actors heads was totally WRONG!! They were referring to "booms" and I watched the whole movie and saw exactly NONE. I was looking for them after that review and would have seen them if they were there. That review put a damper on the movie for my wife and I as we were looking for those flaws and it distracted a little from the true enjoyment that we had watching this movie. We are in our 50's and still liked this movie. It is not a chick flick and did not show any microphones. The acting was great and even Chris Noth was able to pull off the comedy. This story has a lot of humor and Hilliary Duff was fantastic.

I can't believe I liked this film as much as I did.

OK. I'm a Caucasian male in my 30's, there is no reason this film should appeal to me. So, I had the opportunity to see it last night. It has been a long time since I've been so pleasantly surprised in a movie theater. Firstly, the performances were great- Duff and Locklear (I never liked her before, but she's funny and beautiful and delivers... crazy) were dynamic and interesting. Noth is kind of irritating, but I guess some people find him sexy. Anyway, what on the face is a silly small tale is in fact a movie of surprising depth about relationships, the fear of solitude, and familial interaction. Who the hell knew a director of pulpy TV stuff had this in him? I'm considering that perhaps I was emotionally available or vulnerable, but objectively, the film-making is consummate. It looks great- like a big 80's comedy, nice and vivid and bright. So, don't fight if you are taken by a wife/daughter... you will be nicely surprised.

Although a bit flat in some parts, 'Perfect Man' flows with a soothing, sweet message

The Perfect Man Holly Hamilton(Duff) is sick and tired of "going on adventures", as her mom Jean(Locklear) calls it, when Jean gets rejected by yet another man. Their latest move, to New York, really upsets Holly, because she was just starting to make friends in the town. But, she stays positive about the situation, and hopes her mother's love life improves in New York.

Well, it doesn't. So Holly, with the help of her friend(Langies) and her Uncle Ben(Noth), create a secret admirer for her mother, hoping her mother will finally be convinced that the "Perfect Man" is out there, and you just need to look for it...

'The Perfect Man' is Duff's strongest performance yet.

I think Hilary Duff has found a persona that works for her: the cool, loyal, loving and somewhat confused teenager. All she wants is to have a place she can truly call "home" and her intentions in the film are good. Locklear gives a little oomph to the screen, as does Chris Noth, the "perfect man" in the movie. The film is a bit flat in some scenes, but overall, it flows with a soothing, sweet message. Sure, there are better movies, but not many movies these days have messages as good as this.

Many complain that Duff's acting is dry, flat and bland. Her main competition, Lindsay Lohan, yes, is a better actress, but who's movies have a better message... Hilary Duff's. Sometimes, Lohan's movies are welcome, but sometimes, we need a film that has a message. And so far, none of Lohan's films have had a message yet, except for several scenes in 'Freaky Friday'. Point Made.

Overall: Sure, it's not the best film, but it works as a sweet, soothing and more mature role for Ms. Duff with a message that works. 3 from 4 PG: sensual content.

    Partially boring

I don't know why in the first place I'm so obsessed to find an original copy for this movie. Seeing the trailer was a means of breakdown, a failure to my expectations. I was excited to watch the movie to consider Heather Locklear and Hilary Duff would be working in the same film, but the plot was quite unconvincing, however for some reason I could not totally hate it. The setting of the story was cute, fine and atmospheric, but the its feeble plot remind me of knocking my prospects once again instead of knocking my socks off. Nothing interesting so far, but a simple movie with half-wits, half drama and half phase turning enigmas.

If you're in the mood this may spoil your disposition or maybe freeze your temper.

    Better than expected... Way better!

To my dismay, this was a good movie! It was funny, incredibly cute, and super underrated! The critics described this movie to be: Perfectly dreadful, 1/10, and "How many blonds does it take to make a crappy movie; apparently 3! And I believed them! I was so naive at that time! But when I was in Newfoundland my aunt had burned this movie and my older sister wanted to watch it. I just said whatever and I thought I would fall asleep. I didn't. I really liked the character Amy because she was very funny and very pretty. This movie had a great plot! I loved this so much we both watched it again. Yes, it was great! This also had one great screenplay. I liked how Holly wanted to make her mom happy so she did that, which was wrong, but nice. I also liked the friendship between Holly and Amy. I could definitely see a life long friendship between the two because they really seem to get along and they became great friends. And I really thought Vanessa's(Amy's) fake New York accent was pretty convincing. She pulled off the role of a New Yorker, when she is really a Canadian.

The character Zoey was adorable and I just wanted to pick her up because she was so cute. I really liked Lenny too. He was pretty funny and he was somewhat annoying. If I was the mom, I wouldn't date that guy in a million years! I know that sounds shallow but it really isn't, Lenny is funny but is still a little bit of a cocky jerk. Even though he has nothing to be cocky about(except for his hot ride) I would probably go out with Ben(if I was like 30 years older!) because he is a nice man. I was impressed with this film and you will be too. Rent it, please.

The movie was based on Heather Robinson's life as a teenager in Tucson, AZ.

When Amy takes the picture of her Uncle Ben to make him say "Cheese" he has his head straight up and his teeth showing. But when Jean looks at the picture later he has his head tilted and his mouth closed.

Jean Hamilton: Unfortunately, honey pie, new people are only new for a day. After that, they're just people. Who'll excite you, disappoint you, scare you a little bit. And boy do I know how tempting it is to run away when that happens. It's good for avoiding things. But the problem is that you end up avoiding yourself. Avoiding people you love. You end up avoiding life. So I've decided to start setting an example for you girls. I'm going to try showing you what sticking it out looks like. Really get to know people. And let people get to know us. I don't promise to be any good at it, but I will try. Because I want you and Zoe to be better at this than I am. I want you to learn how to let people in.
