"From Mexico With Love" is without a doubt one of the better-cast films of late. There are no weak links. Each and every character adds something significant to the story and each and every actor is outstanding. Kudos must go to a great ensemble cast. Kuno Becker deserves the attention he has received from such respected media critics as Roger Ebert, who said of Kuno Becker's performance in "Goal! The Dream Begins" 'Kuno has not only star quality but something more rare, likability. He makes us want his character to succeed.' I couldn't agree more. Steven Bauer, one of my long-time favorite actors, is back in top form and his acting in the movie is reminiscent of his award winning performances in "Traffic" and "Scarface." It is nice to watch a film that relies on story instead of outrageous special effects. Don't get me wrong; I enjoy the summer Hollywood blockbusters, as much as the next guy, but at the end of the day it is refreshing to watch a film with a meaningful story. "From Mexico With Love" is a film that shows we don't need to go offshore to find an independent film with heart and a meaningful story.
Oh yeah, and the fight sequences were the best I have ever seen. The filmmakers used a new device that allowed the fighter's punches to literally come through the screen. It was awesome.

[Opening lines]
Tito: [voiceover] How much is a man worth? Four bucks an hour, for the lucky ones. How do you feed your family? Where do you find hope when your name isn't even worth writing down? There's a big fence separating the rich and the poor, bigger than the one dividing the land and much harder to climb. Where does a man get his strength to survive? From his will to fight. It come from a people of fighters, who fight because they have to. How much is a man worth? Depends on which side of the fence you're on the day you were born.
