The Woman at the Airport

My title refers to all those cases that Horatio Cain faced time after time. While this was California, it was remindful of the pretty people in Miami. There those rich people parties where semi-clad women dance with fashion model guys. Ultimately, they just seem boring. Lots of bikinis. Lots of tight little skirts. Here, Booth and Bones are sent to find the identity of a girl who was apparently addicted to plastic surgery. It's kind of a bland story with a predictable conclusion. The parallel plot concerns a 1500 year old skeleton that needs to be authenticated. Hodgins and the boss get into a battle over methods. Hodgins may be right, but he acts like a perfect ass. Pretty ordinary offering from the series.

B&B head to La-La-Land to check out a corpse found on the beach. Some problems with the corpse's skull make it nigh unto impossible for Angela to reconstruct a face. Too much plastic surgery, as it turns out. The trail to the woman's murder leads to a call girl ring. While in LA, Brennan meets with people about turning her novel into a movie. She does a TV appearance with Penny Marshall, who is excited about the prospect of making a move out of Brennan's book. Back at the ranch. Hodgins clashes with Dr. Goodman over the origins of a corpse that may be 1,500 years old. Their back and forth leads to a surprising conclusion.

Someone should tell writers that they don't have to force a plot twist in every episode to make it good. When writers force a plot twist that defies common sense and logic, it doesn't a serve purpose other than ruining a story. This is one of these episodes where writers add a non-sense plot twist at the end just for the sake of doing it and not only it doesn't make any sense, but it also ruins the whole episode and when they do this in enough episodes, it ruins the whole show.

Nothing too exceptional compared to the others.. simple story of women using plastic surgery to feel better and hide insecurities and a murder out of jealousy. That was pretty much it.

"The Woman at the Airport" was a well-crafted episode that effectively balanced multiple storylines. The investigation into the beachside body was engaging, and the subplots involving Hodgins and Goodman were entertaining. The episode's ability to seamlessly integrate multiple storylines and deliver a satisfying conclusion earns it a higher rating.

The only reason I wouldn't give it a perfect score is that the LA setting felt slightly underutilized, but it didn't detract from the overall viewing experience. Overall, "The Woman at the Airport" is a solid episode that fans of the series will enjoy.
