In Damascus, Syria, a group of men retrieve a crate from the cemented floor of a mosque. Another group attacks them and, in the end, only one named La Fur survives. He tries to smuggle the crate with a piece of wood inside, but a bomb explodes at the airport killing him. Another man, Helmut Gunsche, steals the crate with the wood. Meanwhile, the Millennium Group splits in two factions, The Roosters and the Owls, who believe in different dates for the end of the world. The piece of wood is the True Cross where Jesus Christ was crucified and now is in possession of the Owls. Catherine is invited to work at Aerotech International and is interviewed by Clear Knight. Lara Means sees an angel and researches the meaning of her vision. Frank returns home with Jordan and finds Peter Watts inside. They have an argument, and Frank quits the Millennium Group. Then he is stalked by two armed men.
"Owls", like other episodes of the Second Season, is another messy and boring episode of "Millennium". Like Frank Black, I expected that "Millennium" would be a series about serial-killers and Frank would be responsible to find their profiles. However, this disappointing Second Season entwins religious themes and a complicated conspiracy inside the Millennium Group. Peter Watts, who seemed to be Frank Black's partner and friend becomes only the liaison between the Millennium direction and Frank. Catherine Black becomes an obnoxious character and only Jordan is still a sweet little girl. This Second Season of "Millennium" is one of the worst TV series ever made. My vote is four.
