As soon as I saw that "Ricky" from TPB (Robb Wells) was headlining this show, I raced over to IMDB and was shocked to see but a single user review. What???
After having watched two episodes, I can say that this show was a bit wobbly at first, but it really has the potential to go somewhere. Heck, I remember when Letterkenney started, and it was a little rough around the edges as well, and now every dingbat on Youtube is in love with that show.
The Trades is less about, you know, people working blue collar jobs than it is a modern-day sitcom. Besides Ricky, you've got McMurray from LetterKenny (playing a character named "Backwoods"), Tom "my bum is on your lips" Green as perhaps the most substance-addicted human being on the planet, and a full bench of deep talent. There's also a little CGI raccoon (Snax) who's only played a small part, but I think he'll get worked into future storylines.
Unfortunately, IMDB's listing is incomplete, and I can't remember the name of the character played by Jesse Comacho, but he's been absolutely stealing every scene he's been in. And I love all the character names of the cast, including "Taser." Last, but not least, the washroom and its detailed graffiti is a separate character in its own right, so props to whoever did the art on that.
Are you gonna guffaw with laughter at this show? No, at least not right now. But it's got that magical spark that Canadian shows like TPB and Letterkenny shared, so I think it'll gain a loyal following over time. And honestly, props to "Tater Todd" aka Robb Wells for looking a lot healthier and more fit than he did during his Ricky days. Genuinely a charismatic lead.

Fantastic premise for a comedy. We all have been in these types of scenarios at work and fantastic writing to turn it into a comedy series! The soundtrack was hilarious and fitting for the storyline, Cant wait to see how story evolves. Easily could have binge watched the entire first season. Alot of great canadian talent showcased in this series, which should have everyone excited to start watching and give it a shot. Fantastic to see Rob Wells in another comedy and going to have alot more stars coming out of this series... episode 3 cant come soon enough! Signed up for crave just for this show.
Just finished watching season two of The Trades on Crave and I'm seriously glad I stumbled on this gem. It's the kind of real-world comedy we don't get enough of-raw, hilarious, and full of heart. The cast absolutely delivers, with standout performances all around.
Tom Green's cameos? Legendary. And Robb Wells-what can I say? The man is a Canadian acting icon and proves it again here.
The show nails the vibe of everyday friendships and real-life situations with characters you can actually relate to and root for. If you're looking for something funny, honest, and uniquely Canadian, The Trades is 100% worth the watch.

What I love so far about this show is it's hilarious situational comedy; simultaneously ridiculous & absurd yet striking a refreshing balance of being rooted in reality. Its another really great sitcom utilizing the single camera style to firmly plant itself within its character's world.
To that effect, the characters are very well developed and familiar. I feel like I am watching a slightly exaggerated version of so many people I knew growing up in small town Southern Ontario! I think this is what is giving the series to much heart for me. These characters are also brought to life by a well rounded ensemble cast and so the series does not lean too much on one actor/character either. I again find this...Refreshing!
This is the Canadian Content I love to see! Highly recommend you check it out if you are a fan of: Trailer Park Boys, Superstore, Letterkenny, FUBAR, Parks & Rec.

THIS one, is for YOU!
I'd never seen "Trailer Park Boys" but there have been many comparisons to that I'm aware of. I went in with no expectations other than good fun! Having seen it, comparisons to The Conners / Roseanne come to mind for my part....
This is streaming on CRAVE and it does NOT disappoint. Ridiculously humorous situations, and loveable characters that have already grown on you by the second episode .... like whatever is in that hot "" (?!!??LOL)...don't want to give it away, so....keeping it light - ever worked in retail? Dealt with a Karen? A cray-cray boss? This one's for you!
I couldn't wait for the second episode and I'm looking forward (beyond) to the next.
The laughs are legitimate. Situations are unexpected but HIGH-larious as they unfold.
Enjoy - I'll be back.
So will you:)
Heads Up: the languagecontent can be appropriately rough - keep the audience in mind as it fits with these characters.
