I'm hoping that we now have all the ducks in place, so we can get on with the kinds of roadblocks that a starship can deal with. We have a couple new characters, Michael seems more subdued and isn't quite the focus anymore. We have the Trill girl (I remember Trills from the past shows). We have Earth coming to grips with great fears. Of course, there is a faction that wants to see nothing but warfare. I recently watched Tenet (what a mess). A lot of the criticisms of this show is that it's b-o-o-r-i-n-g. Well I find intergalactic shoot em ups much more boring than real interactions among the characters. I know this show isn't perfect, but the effort is there.
This season had a good start ,but really instead soldiers like the ones from Doom (not the last movie) ,the Earth will be defended by some woke short sedentary girls ?!?..there is no wonder they are afraid by a group of pirates, where are the Macos ?
Not sure where this season is going. Lots of silly things going on. Stupid things that don't make sense. So many poorly written things.
And yet there is a silver lining. This is the first episode in the entire series that reminds me of the older series and not some wannabe Star Wars show. Makes me hopeful.
P.S. The gender swap Wesley Crusher character seems interesting.

Ok the writing has been slowly deteriorating, now pointless characters filling none needed gaps just to further a repeat of seasons one and two. Season one cause Klingon trouble must fix, season two control isn't happy, fix it etc. Then adding one of the most boring and confusing species just to fill a pointless void sums it up (seriously the most pointless and annoying species from DS9 romps up to fill a character role that is not needed). Now another fix it job, save the ... . I feel for Frakes having to direct poor dialogue and a quite pointless storyline, the sanctimoniousness waffle on and off screen is wearing thin.
Way to much focus on her. Show makes it seem like the galaxy didn't know how to tie their own shoes before she came along.

- TriviaAccording to this episode's director Jonathan Frakes, in an appearance on the web series The Ready Room (2019), Phumzile Sitole was unhappy with her career just before filming began. Her plan was for this episode to be her last acting job. However, she had such a good time on the show that it reinvigorated her passion for acting and she decided to stay in the industry.
- ErroresAs Adira climbs down a ladder to talk to Stamets, his head is tilted to the right, but in the next scene, Stamet's head is tilted to the left.
- Citas
Ensign Sylvia Tilly: I keep thinking there's gotta be something on Earth that we'll recognize, right? I don't know, the Gateway Arch, maybe? Uh... the Giza Pyramids? Homemade hummingbird cake?
Michael Burnham: Cake is eternal.
Ensign Sylvia Tilly: [laughs] Cake is eternal.
