The series it's based on true facts, of fraud against the elderly in Japan, obviously made more usable with some drama
I personally think this show deserves a lot more attention and praise than it got. This ended up being my favorite series since the moment I watched the first episode.
It's great at pulling the viewer into the story which ends up becoming a character study. The characters are realistic and flawed, which made me like them a lot.
The main characters are realistically unpleasant people, and I think that creates a nice contrast, as opposed to other series where there's always a forced happiness looming over them.
The comedy value of this show was pretty great and it wasn't too dark, although at times you could definitely get nervous and sad at the characters' actions.
Overall, I loved it enough to rewatch it multiple times.

The beginning of this story is about a young man that after finishing college still lives at home with his parents due to the debts that he has. Then he loses his job and his father gets very sick. The mother starts to worry about the 2 of them but the son tells her he will handle it. His so called friend. Gets him a job which is not on the up and up steals the cash after he crashes the car and now he is in trouble only to be saved by the boss of this gang who sees his potential. He goes from there to do phone scams on the elderly who are well off and proceeds to get more and more money. When he finally decides to quit it is too late. At the end he gets arrested the boss gives his job to his associate and goes legit and the girl changes her statement to get him out of jail but as he is walking towards her a van pulls up with the guy who first recruited him. Once you are in you cannot get out. Moral of the story don't get too greedy . It had a perfect and complete intro and main part of the story but the ending makes it look like they might either have a 2nd season or a sequel which I don't like. The only good thing is that it is 9 episodes and are only 30 minutes each.
Using phone fraud, a real life problem, as a hook and showing the main characters having fun doing it were the things that sold me the show.
But If the hook was interesting the thing that made me stay was the twisted sense of conduct of the characters. They have a clear reason for not only doing that but beliving what they are doing is the right thing to do, which made the characters more likeable.
Watching the show was really enjoyable, most of the characters were well realised and fun to watch, the episodes have a nice leght , it never felt dragging on , or focusing on too many characters. We had some anime like overreactions but (in most cases) it never felt so out of place or distracting, but it can be a problem for some people.
My biggest gripe with the show is that it blends comedy and drama but whenever it tries something dark it never manages to embrace the darkness of the moment leaving some scenes that were supposed to be heavy feeling kind of meaningless or having less impact that it should have had.
I haven't watched such an engaging Japanese series since Naked Director. It's light, there's not a boring moment, it's fun, and the story reflects the real issue in Japan. I really like that they keep the episodes short. It's a great choice for a light evening series. One issue is that there could be so much more that the storyline could explore, it's very fast-paced as it is a mini series, it runs through the story too fast. I wish they made more episodes or had a second season.
