Imperfect Hosts

While this episode of Sandman was exceptional, I couldn't help finding myself continually distracted by the minimal level of effort spent re-creating Cain, Abel, and The Old Witch. I grew up reading EC comics and later DC's House of Secrets and House of Mystery and they were some of my favorite characters. Most of the personalities were right, but again, the simple appearance was too terrible for me. I guess I could settle for the mediocre effort on Gregory the Gargoyle.

The first episode was like receiving plot through a fire hose, it was a bit overwhelming. Thankfully the pace slows down a bit in this installment and is considerably more coherent. This episode was great, I enjoyed it thoroughly, I'm impressed with how the adaption is so true to the source material.

Also... Honestly, I'm not sure there has ever been a more visually brilliant television series, it truly is incredible looking.

I was familiar with the comics but this show has me obsessed! The actors delivered! The writers delivered. Haters will hate. But watch with an open mind and I think you'll be impressed and in love.

Not great, but a lot of potential. CGI isn't good, but they don't have the money, so it's ok. Also not every actor is great. But the feeling the episodes transmit and the story of the comics is great, so I'm happy they made the show and I also like it. (I hope 24/7 wil be great.)

I'm avoiding spoilers, so I'll just say this: shows so rarely elicit real emotion in me, and yet this episode made me legitimately laugh and cry. Certainly, there were things that could have maybe been done better. But the emotional impact of this episode was very much there.

It was also really neat, as a fan of John Constantine-related shows (though I'm yet to read any comics), to see the Houses in a show, and Cain and Abel. I'm sure the links there might go over the heads of many people who aren't familiar with DC, or at least this part of the DC universe, but I loved it.
