Amazing story, Amazing animation , I think this anime will be the best anime in 2019
You should know I've only cried 1 other time at a tv show, I've watched bojack horseman, breaking bad, deathnote and many other emotional shows and never cried. The end of HxH chimera ant arc was the only other thing that's made me cry(I will say no more).
I've never written a review but this is an absolute masterpiece and I had to, this is the best way to start a show I've ever seen. The entry to the story leaves so much open to happen. The emotion/lack of emotion in certain characters that is shown plus the artwork is absolutely beautiful, I can't wait to keep watching.
Deserves a 9.8/10 for me.

This is the first shocking moment of countless to come! But everything begins from this from here! Welcome to GOT (back when it was good) with Vikings and no dragons or ice zombies!
Episode marks as a powerful turning point in the series. This episode elevates the story from a coming-of-age tale to a brutal reflection on war, loss, and vengeance, firmly establishing its deeper narrative core.
The central focus is Thors' final stand against Askeladd and his band of mercenaries. This confrontation isn't just a battle; it's a philosophical clash. Thors, ever the pacifist warrior, shows restraint and honor, disarming his foes without killing-a demonstration of true strength and the titular definition of a "true warrior." His noble ideals shine here, even in the face of certain death.
The pacing is deliberate and tense, with the animation fluid and impactful during combat. The emotional weight hits hardest when Thors sacrifices himself to save his son, Thorfinn. It's a moment of heartbreak that transforms the young boy-who witnesses his father's death-from an innocent child to someone consumed by the desire for revenge. The shift is stark and beautifully foreshadowed by Thors' own warnings against the cycle of violence.
What makes this episode stand out is its balance between action and philosophy. It avoids glorifying combat, instead showing its devastating consequences. Thors' death is not just a plot device, but a thematic anchor for the series, haunting Thorfinn's path ahead. It marks the true beginning of Thorfinn's journey and sets the stage for the epic narrative that *Vinland Saga* aims to tell.
