Downtime

After a terrible first season, this season seems much better so far. This episode seemed a bit like a Black Mirror theme but that's fine it was still leaps and bounds above anything they did in the first season.

We are two episodes into the second season and they have both been a marked improvement over anything from season one. I sincerely hope this trend continues.

This episode felt more like an original twilight zone episode. A simple story with a twist. It wasn't preachy but told a story. I would have liked a bit more to the story but it still kept my attention.

Yeah nothing new or really interesting in this episode, no real entertainment value apart from watching Morena Baccarin running around in heels. How bored would a person need to be to play a game where they did boring everyday things. Can only imagine Jordan Peele wrote this episode so he could have two beautiful women kiss on screen, not complaining just commenting. An ok episode, here's hoping things improve for this season

Michelle Weaver (Morena Baccarin) is the ultimate professional in the hospitality industry. She has strived to be the perfect manager at a top hotel.

On this day, her dream comes true. She gets her much vaunted promotion. Her first step is to de escalate a situation of a newly married couple who have not got the room they booked.

Then something strange happens. Michelle gets a splitting headache. Outside a giant spaceship shaped like a metallic orb emerges in the sky. There is a crowd that appears to stare at it and get mesmerised.

Michelle rushes to her house and to her husband. Only for him to step outside and stare at the orb. He tells her this is downtime, maintenance is taking place.

Michelle is on her own in a world that is not what she thought it would be.

Jordan Peele wrote this episode about people living in a virtual reality. For a subpar reboot, this one had an interesting premise but then just petered out. Like Peele run out of story.

I liked this one. It could have been fleshed out a bit more but I liked the premise.

I saw a bit of Total Recall and The Matrix. If you are of fan of the original series, the episode "A Kind of Stopwatch" comes to mind during the Downtime.
