Let's face the tumult of action and intrigue with "Furies", the TV series that catapults us into the dark and dangerous Paris of crime. In this urban jungle, Lyna, a determined and resolute woman, navigates between vendettas and secrets, promising viewers a journey full of adrenaline and suspense. However, behind the veil of action, lies a maze of intricate plots and characters that, while promising, often leave a sense of dissatisfaction and emptiness. Action is the pulsating heart of "Furies", with sequences that captivate the viewer and transport them into the chaos of the Parisian streets. Lyna, portrayed intensely by Lina El Arabi, is a powerful guide through this whirlwind of contrasting emotions: vengeance, desire for justice, and a profound search for truth. However, as we allow ourselves to be swept away by the breathtaking action, we realize that there is much more beneath the surface of this series. The plot of "Furies" unfolds like an intricate labyrinth, full of twists and turns that leave the viewer breathless. But as we delve deeper, a sense of uncertainty about the value of the entire journey emerges. Secondary characters, while promising, often disappoint due to their lack of depth and development, leaving a sense of dissatisfaction and emptiness. Despite these imperfections, "Furies" still offers an engaging and vibrant experience. The performances of the actors, especially those of Lina El Arabi and Marina Foïs, are exceptional and keep the viewer glued to the screen. The Parisian settings add a touch of charm and atmosphere, transporting us into a dark and dangerous world that serves as the backdrop to the story. "Furies" presents itself as a compelling mix of contrasting emotions: thrilling action, tight suspense, some moments of disappointment, and a touch of Parisian charm. It's not a perfect series, but for those willing to immerse themselves in the whirlwind of its intricate plots, it could still offer a noteworthy experience.
First let me say I love the basic plot line. The concept of The Fury is good stuff, and the action scenes are great. Now that's out of the way, everything else about this show is hackneyed, all the way from the angry girl lead character who somehow not only becomes a combat genius in weeks, to the fact that she owns no clothing that is not a crop top. It's not uncommon in action TV/films for there to be a few plot holes, especially French productions, but this thing is ridiculous. There is a 'jump the shark' moment 4 times in every episode. I wish someone with vision could do this story without selling out to marketing stereotypes.
I enjoyed this despite it being very frustrating at times. The basic premise is good and the main storyline is also very good. However, it is let down by too many plot holes and some of the acting is very amateurish. Nevertheless if you approach this in the same way as you would something like Die Hard or anything with the likes of Jason Statham or Jean Claude Van Damme then you will get enjoyment from it.
Like most action movies the action sequences in this become ever more preposterous to the point where I started wondering whether it was a parody. Entertaining but in a trashy way. You know the drill, the enemies have all the firepower of a small army but can't hit anything remotely close to a target while the protagonists can bring down said army with a small handgun and only two bullets.

I truly enjoyed watching Furies. It is a classic french action gendre to the core but it also adds surprising twists and turns that will really make you want to watch the next episode. Every time. Some complaints about how realistic gun fight sequences are exaggerated imo. Sure I am no expert with guns but the scenes look as good or better than most big budget Hollywood gun fights scenes i have ever seen. Note: I admit that i also watched Furies in its original french language track since i am bilingual, so not sure how good the english dubbing is which could make a difference. When watching other languages foreign films ( i also love anything Scandinavian ), i always make it a point to listen to the intended original language track and read closed captions when necessary. Give it a try. It is well executed.
So a woman whos never been in a fight suddenly turns into a combination of Jack Reacher and Jason Bourne 5 months after being in a prison - a place where she got beat up daily no less?
The action scenes are well-choreographed no doubt but the plot has more holes than pathways making it seem just ridiculous.
The fault here lies with the writers and the lead lyna - tho that may be on the director and not the actress. Either way, the action team gets props but the writers let the show down. Guess they missed out a few pages in between when they handed the script to the director.
Tv shows are fun when larger than life but not when they are just plain ridiculous.
