The Blue Bed

After waiting for a long time, watching the short film "Blue Bed" made by the author Alireza Kazemipour was an interesting experience for me. The film reminds us that we can expect a lot from the medium of short films. The Blue Bed is a power answer to those who say short films do not give them an opportunity for characterizing and if the filmmaker can create influential situation, it should be excellent. Kazemipour in the short time that the film has given him, could be a skilled magician who arranges the elements of the story with all the care and patience in front of the viewer's astonished eyes. He does not neglect in directing although the subject that he has chosen is the taboo but at the same time, he does not insist on showing off his ability. The attractive story of the film has the best opportunity to fall into the trap of tearful melodrama and shows us the filmmaker's support of the main character. The choice of two women as the main protagonists of the film also puts the risk of emotional perception of the subtleties of the protagonist's feminine and feminine world for the filmmaker. But the filmmaker, with the confidence that comes from the filmmaker's personality trait, safely leaves these deadly gaps and he has finished his story with a deep and surprising final.

At the end of the film, it begins in the viewer's mind whit a question. What art is better than the filmmaker sending spectators out of the cinema with a question in their mind?

Women Over 50 Film Festival (WOFFF) champions and showcases the work of older women on screen and behind the camera with an annual short film festival and year-round events and film screenings. WOFFF is proud to have created a a film community centred around older women.

The Blue Bed was awarded a Commended prize from the drama jury who said the film was "Beautifully realised. Original and illuminating. A world we may know little about thrown into relief. Good story with many turns, with key information held-back well."

The Blue Bed screened at the Satisfied Eye International Film Festival and was one of those films that you were thinking about long after it had finished. An excellently directed film that bravely challenges our pre-conceived notions, it deals with a taboo and untouched upon issue in a very sensitive, compelling way. This is clearly an issue in a more free, western country, so it's eye opening to be party to how it must be perceived in a less open society. With a powerful and sympathetic performance by the lead actress, you feel her pain every step of the way, while the script manages to deftly juggle moments of humour and drama;that adds to the sense of truth and realism. A very clever film which warrants multiple viewings.
