It's not as bad as they say.
This movie is simple; if you saw the previews then you pretty much saw the movie. If you saw any other movie about obsessed chick stalkers then you saw this movie. The directors and producers get a big fat "F" for originality and creativity. However credit needs to be given to Idris Elba because he convincingly made me feel bad for his character, great acting. Ali Larder was obviously hot and her usual temptress self, however I must add that she played her role so well that towards the end of the movie I didn't care how hot she was, I too wanted to just get away from she creeped me out so much. Hope I didn't give anything away. P.S. this movie should not be ranked a 4.
Not as bad if you go in with the right expectations...
I went to go see this film in the theaters and let me tell you this movie was a blast! People were laughing and cheering through out. Was it because it was an Oscar caliber film with amazing character development? NO. It was because it was a brainless, campy, thriller.
There were many laugh-inducing moments. Were they supposed to be intentionally funny? I'm not quite sure, but they were quite enjoyable nonetheless.
Don't go into this movie with the mind frame of it being a deep, psychological thriller with a chilling plot line because you will be extremely disappointed. It's stupid fun, and what's wrong with some stupid fun once in a while?

Wish Beyoncé didn't ruin this
I absolutely love this movie... except for the part where Beyoncé stars in it. I'm sorry but she ruins the whole thing for me. Her voice and her terrible acting kills any chance of this being a good movie. She's got to be one of the worst actresses I have ever seen. The rest of the cast is amazing, A+ for them. Ali Larter is amazing at being sweet and psycho at the same time and Idris Elba is phenomenal as the lead. I could watch this movie over and over again if Beyoncé didn't come in and ruin the whole thing. They should have casted anyone but her
ALTERNATE TITLE: "GIRLS.... JUST WANNA HAVE FUNDS!"
Now, if you're asking yourself... "What the H*LL kind of alternate Title is that!?!?" Then, how about this one: "My Guess is as Good as Yours!" Because if you're OBSESSED with well written, logical and solid story lines, the second title option fits the bill like an 80's style Madonna glove! (You know, the ones with holes for your fingers! OBSESSED has more plot holes than an Iraqi minefield!)
My motivation for Watching this? A Friend's Review...Go ahead and look for a second (or 3rd) opinion that differs notably from mine!
....And it's not like I didn't TRY to really enjoy this film! Convinced that if I put my Suspension of Disbelief into overdrive, I might reach the credits with a 7 or 8 Star rating. But my intentions were overwhelmed by a totally deficient storyline, and at times, anemic dialog, coupled with a good number of story thread loose ends!!!
Don't get me wrong, OBSESSED obviously had SOME positive qualities going for it, or it never would have received 5.5* from MY Id!!!.
Ali Larter turns in a fine performance as the delusional mistress wannabe. If the scripting had provided her with a more developed, fleshed-in character, I dare say her performance might have been Oscar nomination caliber!
People don't seem to be giving Idris Elba the credit he deserves. His performance as the responsible executive/unwaveringly loyal husband was utterly credible, absolutely spot on. Considering he's from London, his rendering of an American accent was flawless, and I can offer that up as an Expert, Professional opinion.
Beyonce, it should be noted, is making a supreme effort to improve as an actor. Maybe she's trying too hard, because in spite of her energy and focus, her performance barely registers an "OK". Well, at least she seems to be headed in the right direction!
OBSESSED seemingly has borrowed elements from a slew of different movies. Several films are mentioned repeatedly in other reviews. Here are other examples: The War of the Roses; specifics here would amount to a Spoiler, so sorry! And the foreboding music, which itself amounted to a Spoiler in some early scenes, seemed to be lifted directly from "Basic Instinct"!
5.5 *Stars*.... ENJOY! /DISFRUTELA! (As Much As Possible!)
Any comments, questions or observations, in English o en Español, are most welcome!

The Funniest Thriller of the Year!
Ever since I saw the trailer I knew this movie was going to suck really bad. I walked into the theater jam packed. The beginning started pretty descent, then once he started to get to know the "Obsessed" temp, the movie started to get really weird. I think they over exaggerated this movie way to much. The acting was horrible and the ending fight scene was hilarious! Everyone in the theater laughed when the quote "Bitch Breath" was said. This movie could of been a huge success, but they hired really bad actors and actresses. The girl that played the temp is a good actress, she knows better than to sign up for this crap. Overall I gave this a 5/10 because some of it was pretty entertaining, I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone.
¿Sabías que…?
- TriviaA passionate sex scene with Derek and Sharon was written in the original script, but it was never filmed.
- ErroresWhen Derek is getting ready to go to the Christmas party and asks which tie to put on, after the selection is made, his collar is not on straight. In the next shot his collar is smooth, then it's not on straight, then it's smooth again.
