Scavengers

...can't disguise the fact that this is starting to look a lot less like Star Trek and more like The Adventures of Michael Burnham. And that sucks big time.

From her whispered lines to the need for her character to cry in virtually every episode, the Burnham centric storylines are ruining a terrific show.

Seriously. Literally all of the other characters are more interesting and are better played.

This series would be much more successful and more popular if she were to meet an untimely end during a transporter malfunction.

I am giving it a 5, a useless filler side quest episode. I get it, it ain't Next Generation, but seriously I had more joy watching filler episodes of shows like Dark Matter, Andromeda or Lexx and those were B rated tv shows... This one supposed to be A rated show and yet we get these stories about nothing with loads of Pew Pew, teleport here teleport there and technobabble , there is no discovery in this episode, there is no adventure - just Burnham going everywhere and kicking ass and her crew doing technobabble...

At this point wouldn't they have perfected long range transporters

The biggest problem are the characters. Tilly is the Jar Jar Binks of the Star Trek universe. Michael is still crying at every opportunity. And the other characters, who might be in some way interesting, are hidden in the plot holes. That makes it very difficult to care about them. The only interesting thing is the search for the origin of the disappearance/burn of the Dilithium. That keeps me watching...

I am sorry to write something negative about Discovery because I had high hopes for this season, that it would become more Trek. But so far, we still don't know anything about the crew, there's no world or character building except for Burnham, and she's destroying the show for me (and for many viewers, for what I've read in other reviews).

For a person that's been raised in Vulcan, she's become an emotional mess, she seems to be about to cry in every episode and it's completely irritating imo (and of course the ridiculous whispering and over-acting).

I'd like to see more of the rest of the crew, please, and see how this new era is affecting them, get to know them. The writers are out of touch with fans, and it seems, with Star Trek. Is this Alex Kurtzman, JJ Abram's right hand and destroyer of worlds? He doesn't get it, Star Trek, he doesn't understand that we need more backstory and not just pretty visual effects.

They are simply wasting so many opportunities to tell great stories in this season, very disappointing. And I gave this series my support because I thought they had to find their own way, but this whole season has become The Burnham Show and I can't stand her shaenanigans anymore ( and I say this with regret).
