I don't understand the mixed reviews, there are still 3 episodes and this was a perfect way to give Gene the Saul itch. We gonna see big things the next episodes, your false expectations are the only reason why you didn't like the episode.
This episode presents audience with a glimpse into the life of Gene Takavic (Saul Goodman's disguise). Let's just say, that BCS is becoming the best neo-noir presented on screen. And it's also never been more unpredictable. Just when I was predicting everything that would/could happen in this season, all of my predictions were wrong. Only 3 episodes left, and who even knows where this could go!!!
A lot of people will hate this episode. I'm reading 'filler' 'the fly of better call saul'. I think the issue is, that we just finished the BCS timeline. Major deaths and important plot points. And when it's time for Gene, it's too slow and different from the rest.
If this was released as the first episode of season 6, people would think 'Wow! Amazing episode, intriguing, mysterious, Gene is back! Etc. Also, they teased Walt and Jesse would be coming back for "a few episodes". The show is coming to an end. People were hyped for 2 iconic characters. Not this week tho.
Well, now we know what Gene has been up to, that he's still Saul and the question remains; What will his fate turn out to be?
I don't mind this episode. Wish they released this one sooner. Or had episode 11 aired as well tonight. I get the frustration, but a solid episode that answers some questions. Sets up nicely for the Gene timeline too.

Spoiler free.
They did a great job tying up a loose end from I believe last season. It's a very slow burn episode and I know people will want more to happen in it but I feel a break was needed from all the carnage of prior episodes.
Going to be polarizing for many people. Some will love it and some will hate it.
Can't wait to see what happens with 3 more left to go.

When I first realized this would be a gene episode I was not Entirely sold, having not cared that much about his previous appearances. The rest of the episode, however, proved to be one of the best in the show and I loved every minute once I was used to it.
This episode contains one of the most nerve wracking sequences in the whole BBU and I was on the edge of my seat for at least half the episode.
Spectacular episode that's just the kind of fun stress inducing hijinks that make this show so amazing!
