Such kind of films should not be marked a comedy
It's not a comedy, it's a film about someone's life. I've been in a cinema and heard other spectators. If there's laughter twice over whole of the film ... it's either bad comedy or not a comedy at all.
I almost never laugh with comedies, because the jokes are mostly so obvious. Here the good ones are not. I am giving it a ten, because it made me laugh, also cry a little bit, and also think about my own relationships. All you need from an easy movie. It is a ten for a comedy that makes you at least chuckle many many times.
I had a good time watching this simple comedy in the form of unsaid and criticism of social conventions. I laughed well. I would recommend it. Good one.
Very entertaining and funny movie with a good take on how to tell a story directly from the main characters mind and thoughts at all times. Some scenes are quite creative and nice to watch. The movie is also relatable on how one would think through various events and the anxiety one can feel. The movie is fast paced and most of the movie is narrated by the main character, which can feel a bit heavy at times, but overall a very well done movie. The ending is up for interpretation and a very good ending in my opinion.
French cinema, and historically European cinema overall, often embraces a more unconventional and experimental style compared to that of Hollywood. This film is a perfect example of that.
The setup for the plot is just genius. It mainly takes place at a dinner table, with a guy imagining different scenarios, and it works so well and is so well written and funny. The script is very clever and just perfect, and the actors all do an incredible job.
It all leads up to a fun climax that I will not spoil, but is definitely a masterpiece that should be experienced. In a theater if possible, that's where I watched it.
