I wish I could recommend this film. I can't trash it completely because it started out quite good. The opening credits caught my eye right away. It began as a very good "found footage" style film. The cast is diverse and, for the most part, pretty convincing. The story was propelled forward at a reasonable pace. Just about halfway through...the characters became less real, any tension or suspense was contrived, and then it became an absolute flurry of cliches. The story falls apart to the point where no resolution would salvage it. I'd keep my eye on the filmmakers because the talent and potential is certainly there. It was an ambitious film with a good idea that just didn't work without a cohesive, original ending.
This whole movies feels like the movie "The 4th Kind" in which they draw you in from the shaky-cam and with the classic silly chaos from party settings. You fall in love with the character Tien (the token Asian) from the beginning and even though he wasn't the lead, I couldn't stop laughing. The acting was solid from the lead character Luke.
Understanding this was StrangeDoor's first film out of film school, I say they did an amazing job. Really looking forward to when they can recruit more money and talent on their future films.

A bit of a rough start in my opinion, but once it got rolling I was very intrigued by the story. Camerawork and acting were great. The music kept the tension really well and stood out to me. The story has a bit of a Coherence vibe.
This movie had so much potential in the beginning. The characters were believable, good camera work, dialogue felt genuine, etc. But by a third of the way in it seems like no one could decide what plot they wanted for the movie, so they decided to just throw in a bunch of different horror cliches. Nothing tied together or made sense. There wasn't even a hint of an explanation, where we could call it an "open ending." Just a bunch of friends getting attacked.
This is an excellent discourse on what happens when trust funders wander too far from their annuities. I think there might be a revenge motive lurking beneath all of the twenty-something angst running amok in the narrative. Getting back at dad maybe? Are events symbolic, metaphoric or just plain nagging rashes waiting for all those climbing out of their teen years. I do know a plea for help when I see one though. Maybe a few weeks in a soup kitchen? No, no I understand now! This is only a Korean game show fitted to the dilemmas found in the good ole USA. Please, get me outta here - descent awaits.
