Before Everest

I thought that this would be a really interesting documentary about Everest but just a few minutes in I could tell that it was going to be unwatchable. The sound is horrible. The music is very loud & it drowns out what the narrator is saying. I would have to turn it up pretty loudly only for the narration to stop and the music would then blast through the tv like it was trying to snatch my soul. I jumped a few minutes ahead hoping that it was just the beginning but no. Still the same. I'm not sure if it's an Amazon Prime thing or just the documentary being made on the cheap but it's a no from me.

In the film there is a section discussing objective truths. One that they overlooked was that in the dawn of modern mountaineering Earle Riddiford planned AND summited peaks that are today, with all the modern gear and technology, still taking fit, experienced climbers' lives. I never met Riddiford, but I did once meet Hillary. I was 16 years old and the pontoon boat driver on a lake in Lake Barrington Shores, IL. Hillary was aloof, seemed disinterested in the group and there was a certain negativity about him. Insecure because of his freakish looks, I could see him wrongly cutting somebody else down just to make himself feel better.
