My wife made me watch this show. I don't like reality TV shows. I have to admit though that I was entertained (for a reality TV show) and kept on watching...to my strange fascination that the storylines were interesting.

Thank you HBO for finally representing an Asian family on television! Anyone who has married into an Asian family can relate to Lesley being the daughter in law trying to fit in with the new family or Judy the daughter going through a divorce. It's refreshing to see it from the perspective of Asian culture.

Too many of the reviews focus on the wealth of the family instead of the issues that we all face in life. The family is rich but who cares? Unfortunately, if they were poor or middle class, they would not have their own show because it's the society we live in, we want to watch the rich and famous for the things we dont have. Being Asian myself, my wife and I can totally relate to all the issues the cast goes through. You want your parents' blessings but we all need to live life based what's best for us and not how it makes your parents' social status. My wife and I are enjoying the show and we hope for more seasons ahead!

Love this TV family. Very funny and entertaining. I love seeing diversity on TV.

Just came to address a couple things. A lot of people didn't like it for the way things were playing out. The way family treated each other etc.

Being half Vietnamese, it is always nice for other people to see the way we grew up. To have an understanding of how things might not have been the same way for us vs for others.

Also, for the person talking about them just have a 2 million dollar home... Looks like they could afford a lot more if you Google their net worth... (~350M).

I have family members with homes more expensive than that in Houston but 350M is some hefty net worth my friends.

It's really cool to see a show like this based in Texas (where I live) and featuring an underrepresented culture. I really want to like it and I do enjoy certain people and their storylines. But ultimately, the show focuses so much on a rich kid who won't provide for his family because he's spoiled and his parents will do it for him and now he's a rapper? What a joke. His parents deserve so much respect for everything they've accomplished but solid parenting is not one of them. They just spoil their children and talk about "who's the favorite" and show conditional love. It's so dysfunctional. His wife is stuck in a crappy situation and I want to sympathize with her but then she just comes off of as a brat who talks about how hard things are for her and how she does all these good things so they need to praise her. They're so unlikeable. The show seems really disjointed jumping from one random story to another trying to make it interesting. They swear it's not scripted but that's so hard to believe.
