THE MAGNUS ARCHIVES: Best Horror Anthology

THE MAGNUS ARCHIVES (2016-2024) is one of the greatest horror anthology podcast series around. The writing and acting is superb. It covers many fascinating subjects and stories. It blends horror, science fiction, fantasy, mystery and drama seemlessly.

The cast, the writing, as well as the sound and audio effects are all incredible. The podcast atmosphere really draws the listener in to an excellent and terrifying story.

Overall, this podcast is riveting, each episode story ties into something bigger, a larger picture. Can't wait to listen to The Magnus Protocol, a sequel series.

Individual episodes of The Magnus Archives deal with a wide variety of horror stories and overtime they all content in mysterious and thrilling ways.

The show benefits from a wide metaplot, the multi episode arcs and connections as well as the world building of individual episodes and the way the show deals with different types of fears in individual episodes is a thing to behold.

You need this in your life

So, I started this podcast two days ago...I'm already into season two, and this is AMAZING. I'd call this binge worthy, terrifying, and hilarious. The salty narrator cracks me up, and I'd wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone who enjoys horror podcasts and interesting horror stories. :-) ~K.

Absolutely Horrifying

This podcast may be the best horror fiction podcast out there. I started the podcast with extremely low hopes but I was hooked by the second episode. There's a scare here for everyone, the show covers a rather wide variety of horror. There are times when an episode will sit with me in such a way that I just have to stop listening for a while. Plus the writing is fantastic, 172 episodes in and the story still seems so fresh. Not to mention storyline itself which has to be one of the best parts. You don't even realize how deep it goes until it's too late and you're in love with the podcast. I could gush about it all day. I HAVE gushed about it all day. Now stop reading this review and go listen!

Great podcast

I don't often listen to podcasts and often dropped them, but the first episode of the Magnus made me listen to it till the end.

I loved the inspiring acting of the voice actors and the intriguing way the story was made. Soundscape was also inspiring, growing better with each season.

It was fascinating to watch the way an anthology transformed into a thing with a main, thick and unpredictable plot, and the way characters so drastically changed under the weight of their new reality. It's hard to listen to it and don't find yourself sympathising to the characters of the main story cast.

I would recommend this podcast to anyone who enjoys a good atmospheric story with great acting (and is okay with/loves horror).

The Magnus Institute archival assistants are named after horror writers for example: Martin Blackwood - Algernon Blackwood, Tim Stoker -Bram Stoker, Sasha James - M.R. James.

The credits for Season 1 contain a major spoiler around a season 2 mystery when crediting Evelyn Hewitt as Not-Sasha revealing early that Sasha was replaced a "Not-Them".
