This is the first anime i have watched in almost a year properly and the first i have watched dubbed in around 2 years. But it has to be said that this first episode (and for a return personally to anime) this is pretty good.
I love the fact that you don't have to have played the game to have known what this was all about. Don't get me wrong it probably helps, but i'm sure people who haven't played the game (of which i am not a part of) can watch this episode and follow the story so far.
The dub is fine and the reason i chose the dub over the sub is simply the fact that it's set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077 and i played that game in English. So i feel like i would enjoy it more and/or have it feel more connected to the story of Cyberpunk that i know about.
The cast seems fine so far although i wasn't a fan of the mothers voice, but it wasn't terrible just sounded slightly out of place as if the actor didn't care.
The world is set up nicely in the first episode, 7/10.

This is like some next level animation and story telling. Its got layers, or seems to. Love the animation, love the style and love the dark themes. This was a really well thought out show...or episode.
Only thing that i dont understand is where did that spine come from. And why does he not die outright when installing it. It just rips out his own spine to be replaced with the machine one..So brutal.
God dangggit..this is too short of a review???? You want me to professionally critique each scene or what IMDB???
Okay...well in the 2nd or third episode there is a super long super boring montage sequence that is so dumb i had to skip..like why is the camera 1000 feet away from the characters...is there an invisible person standing there like Ghost in the shell? Or did they just run out of money.

The sounds, lights and even the apartment, where just as the game so I am going to give it a good mark just because of that.
Story wise, street rat down on luck, cliche but that is fine.
Do I want to see the next episode.
Yes.
Have I seen it yet.
No.
What happens in the episode is what you could easily imagine happening in cyberpunk 2077 and any story for that matter.
I would say it is a 5 out of 10 at the moment and +2 because of all the game imagery.
I really hope it will earn that 7 or more.
Some of the voice actors are legends in the game or 5e game.... so you would hope they are in it for the right reasons.

They really nailed the anime vibe, the animation and art is great and the music is ok.
The problem is that we just get fed what we are to understand about the character and the ideology of the show through simple, unoriginal script, the kid is a lower class stressed out miss fit and the show conveys an anti-capitalist message, all of that is EXPLAINED to the viewer through the script and simple scenes, it really feels cheap and non-authentic.
Idk if it's because they want young viewers to easily relate to the character, understand the message and avoid miss-understanding it like a lot of them do with movies like American psycho, taxi driver, fight club, Scarface etc... Or maybe it's just bad writing, or i'm wrong 🤷♂️
