What was the point of Part 1?

What was the point of Part 1 with the Reapers? What a pointless waste of time, they could've scrapped all that nonsense and focus on the Commonwealth plot so they don't feel the need to rush it now.

It makes no sense whatsoever they all got to such high places in the Commonwealth in just 30 days. Somehow Connie is now a renown reporter and thinks she has a well founded opinion on how the place works? Daryl and Rosita are top-tier bodyguards for the elite? They just trust them like that after we saw how demanding the selection process to enter the colony is? It makes no sense, it's rushed.

Also, the whole antifa subplot feels like it's gonna be a massive deal of cringe. I'm afraid to keep watching and get disappointed about the end of this show.

    Rosita's hair

No one would go into a zombie fight with their very, very long hair hanging loose like Rosita. It annoys me that it's all about looking good. They lived in a zombie infestet World for many years now, and should now, that things like that could cost you your life. But it's obviously more important that the women look perfect.

    The Walking Politics

I just want to start by saying I'm not someone who has grown tired of this show. I've been a big fan from the beginning. I gave last episode a 10/10 rating and it deserved it. I also saw someone say last week that they weren't excited about the commonwealth storyline. I didn't really agree or disagree with it at the time but they were right. The direction of the story is not what I want/expect from this show going forward. I know they are trying to wrap things up and some sort of community like this would probably exist but I am not a fan. I hope this was a one off and not the direction they're going in. After seeing the previews for the upcoming episodes it looks like this will unfortunately continue.

    What the Heck?

You turn on this episode and feel like you've MISSED an episode (or maybe you turned on a whole other show by mistake)!

How is all this happening without any build-up? There's no continuity. Suddenly, all these characters are just shoved into this brand-new life in this brand-new community, and you get the feeling everything is being RUSHED big time, because it's the last season.

For instance (in season 5) they didn't just show our intrepid group walking through the woods battling walkers and eating worms, then suddenly, (right the very next show) being thrust into Deanna's world in Alexandria! No...there was a build-up to that happening. There was doubt in the minds of Rick and a lot of the others, as to whether the people in Alexandria would be "safe" and "worth the risk." After all, didn't they learn that lesson in Terminus...not just to rush into things and automatically trust people? I guess not.

Don't get me wrong. I was excited about the whole "idea" of the commonwealth. I thought it could all be very interesting. I just wonder what the rush is? It's leaving me feeling irritated and confused.

Oh well. I guess I'll just have to accept that this is what's going on and watch the show for what it is. After all, I've watched it this far. And where's Aaron and Maggie? I don't know. It all feels like sort of a mess.

By the way, I really like Princess, and was disappointed there wasn't more Princess in this episode.

    Not Bad

I quite enjoyed this episode and it's interesting that the show has become unpredictable and we don't know what's gonna happen or how it's going to end.

I read another review that said this one was disappointing because of the 30-day jump and that there is no build-up, which I completely agree but not in this case. It didn't bother me that much for this episode. The sometimes-no-build-up thing they got in this show is a problem that I've had for a long and I think it hurts the show.

But why didn't it bother me that they did a 30-day jump into our characters being citizens of Commonwealth?

Because we already saw that build-up and introduction in the previous part of this season with Ezekiel and Princes. We already know the protocols of getting into the Commonwealth. In fact, it was like 2 or 3 episode of introducing Commonwealth through Princes and Ezekiel. So why would they do that again? Wouldn't that be redundant?

It's not like we have no idea what this place is and who the guy in the suit is and now all of a sudden Daryl and Carol has become a law-abiding citizen of that community, they've already introduced them.

Yes the Alexandria introduction that was in the 5th season I think was really good and it worked really well. But I do think it would've been redundant to show how the gang got into this town and waste like half and episode or more, when they have already dedicated a couple of episode at the beginning of this season.

Other than that, I thought the episode was ok with some interesting plots being developed and it's a change of pace. I don't really an opinion about whether the plots are good or interesting enough as this is kinda the beginning and we have to see more to decide.

It was interesting to see how Judith who has been on the run and fighting zombies from birth is adapting to this "normal" life, and also other characters finding jobs based on their real-world jobs.

So far it's interesting enough and we have to see what they have in store for the rest of the season.

Only thing disappointing with this season was how they butchered the potential of the Reapers being a terrifying and menacing enemy, but I hope we get more interesting plots from now on.
